From the Tandoor
Heritage North Indian
Est. MMXXIV · Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh
A heritage table, considered rooms, and a place for celebration — kept in the quiet shadow of the Great Stupa.
01An introduction
Sanghamitra opened in 2024 in a single low building set back from the road to the Great Stupa. We are named for Ashoka's daughter, who carried the teaching south across the sea — a small inheritance of welcome we hope to keep.
The kitchen serves the food of the Madhya Pradesh table and the wider Mughlai north. The rooms are quiet, warmly furnished, and close enough to the monuments that you can walk before the heat. Beyond that there is little to say. Come and see.
02The table
An open kitchen, a working tandoor, and a short list that changes with the season. We source our spice in Bhopal and our vegetables down the road. We do not hurry.

03The rooms
Thirty-one rooms, each with its own balcony and a hillside or garden view. A swimming pool, a lawn for the children, and the Great Stupa a short walk away.
A bright twin room with its own balcony and a garden or hillside view — easy for friends and families travelling together.
More space, a private balcony, and the wide hillside view — your own pause in the day.
Our finest rooms. A separate sitting area, a balcony over the gardens, and the morning light.
04Celebrations
Lawns for three hundred. A private dining room for twelve. A team that has done it before and knows when to vanish.
500guests
Outdoor lawns, tented dining, full catering and decor.
100guests
Intimate halls, custom menus, themed setups.
200guests
Day rooms, AV, catered breaks and offsite retreats.
05The town
Sanchi is the oldest stone monument in India — a small group of stupas, monasteries, and gateways commissioned by the emperor Ashoka in the third century before the common era. UNESCO World Heritage since 1989.
The site sits twelve minutes on foot from our front door. We can arrange a guide, a car, or simply a packed breakfast for the early walk.
Voices
“A small place that feels held together by quiet attention. The food was beautiful, our pilgrimage was easier for being here.
